Armenian version

Ara Gevorgian was born on April 19, 1960, in Yerevan (Armenia).
Studied at school N31 and at the musical school after A.Tigranyan at the same time.
1978 - 1980
Studied at Yerevan N8 college of Fine Arts.
1983 - 1987
studied at Armenian pedagogical institute after Kh. Abovyan at the faculty of wood wide instruments and pop music department.
1987 - 1989
taught conducting at the same Institute and was a leader of local pop-musical orchestra.
1992 - 1999
worked at Armenian Television as a musical leader of "3-Aliq" TV program. Since 1983 plays in "Rally" band. He participated in a series of festivals. He had concerts in different countries such as France, Syria, Lebanon, USA and other countries. Participant of "Song - 85" International festival with "Rally" band.
1995
Released "Ovkianosits Ayn Koghm" (Over the ocean) album.
1997 Released "Nostalgie" album.
1999
Released "Ani" album which was a prize winner of All Armenian Music Awards in the USA.

"Ani"  and "Nostalgie"  albums found their place in Music Rama catalog in New York.

Has given a charity concert in Alex Theatre in Glendale (USA).
2001
Released "Khor Virab" album which was a prize winner of All Armenian Music Awards in the USA.

A solo concert was dedicated to the 1700th Anniversary of the Adoption of Christianity as State Religion in Armenia, which took place on September 23.
"A Park of Culture". where each tree was named after a famous Armenian artist was planted upon Ara Gevorgian's initiative and with many trees yet to be plated there in the future.
The Prefect of Yerevan's Shengavit district awarded him with Garegin Nzhdeh Medal.
2002
Concerts given in Armenia, Canada and USA.

The Ministry of Culture awarded him with the Gold Medal for his activities for the republic's cultural life.

2005
To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the memory of the victims of Armenian Genocide Ara Gevorgyan composed "Adana" song, which was further translated into 14 languages and was live performed on 24 April at Armenian Genocide Memorial by multilingual group of famous singers from different countries.

The "Adana" action continued on May 1, 2005 in New York, May 14 in Boston and May 29 in Los Angeles by the author's concert dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Ara Gevorgyan founded a 40-member ensemble of folk music, which further became known as the RA State Ensemble of Folk Music.

2006
Ara Gevorgyan was awarded a prize for his contribution in the development of Armenian instrumental music.

He participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Cultural Year of Armenia in The Russian Federation hosted at The Moscow Kremlin Music Hall and honored by the presence of the presidents of Armenia and Russia Robert Kocharyan and Vladimir Putin respectively and the famous singer Charles Aznavour.

The concerts was given in Sydney (Australia), Marseille and Lyon (France) .
2007

From Russia has been awarded by a medal of honor "Mikhail Lomonosow".

Has given a concert in Moscow the Kremlin concert hall (Russia).


Ara Gevorgyan had participated in RA fifteenth years anniversary concert (Yerevan, Republic Square).
2008
Ara Gevorgyan had participated in "Karot" festival in Moscow the Kremlin concert hall and had been awarded by a gold medal of "Karot"

For social, political and humanity activities, for considerable input into Armenian genoside recognition struggle the Meritorious Artist of the Republic of Armenia Ara Gevorgyan was awarded with the Golden Medal after a Great Humanist and Nobel Prise Laureate Fridtjof Nansen.

The International Informatization Academy of Canada had presented Ara Gevorgyan an Active Member of Academy.
2009
In USA released "Vagharshapat" album which was a prize winner of All Armenian Music Awards in the USA as well as released "The best of concerts" DVD.

In Moscow released "The best of Ara Gevorgyan" album.

The concerts was given in Allepo in Citadel(Syria).


Ara Gevorgian is considered to be an honorable citizen of Yerevan's Shengavit district.

He was awarded with a series of diplomas and certificates.

Ara Gevorgian performed at a charity concert dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Pan-Armenian Fund held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Ara Gevorgian co-operates with Armenian and foreign famous musicians and singers- Jivan Gasparyan, Hasmik Leyloyan, Armen Anassian, Flora Martirosyan, Elvina Makaryan, Suzan Margaryan, Ian Gillian, Demis Roussos, Pedro Eustache, Walter Rodriges,Daniel Decker, Malik Bend(Odessa) and others.

One can hear Ara Gevorkian's music in number of films("Qrmuhi","Khnkarkum","Yar khushta", etc.), performances("Bari galust","Krunkner et dardzek" ,etc.), during various worldwide sportive events (figure skating, callisthenics, etc.).

Ara Gevorgian is a son of Valya Samvelyan - a famous singer of Armenian folk and popular songs and he is a producer of Valya Samvelyan's "Toghetsir indz menak" (You did let me alone) , "Anushik im quyrik" (My sweet sister) albums, "Valya Samvelyan" DVD and the book " Our Valya Samvelyan".

Hobby - has a big collection of toys.

During his concerts Ara gets many toys. His granting these toys to kindergartens has become a nice tradition.

Two kindergartens of Yerevan (N97, N140, N175 and N202 boarding kindergarten) have already received a great number of toys.
In the 2003, 2007 Ara Gevorgian presented part of his collection of toys to the "Prkutyun" Rehabilitation Center of Disabled Children and "Orran" charitable public (non governmental) organization.

On the initiative of the "AdvenTure" club the first international rally "Metaksi Chanaparh" ("Silk Road") was staged on June 7-8, 2003 in Armenia. Both professional and amature racers participated in the competition from all over the world.

Ara Gevorgian and Sargis Tashchian (navigator) participating in the competition for amature drivers emerged as winners of the race.
The winners received the diploma and a prize for the first place during the awarding ceremony held on June 9.
